The Allegheny Chapter of the BMW Car Club

2018 PVGP – Club Racer Info

All BMW 2002 Racers are invited to the 35th Annual Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix where the Allegheny Chapter of BMW CCA celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the “2002”. As part of the celebration the Allegheny Chapter will host an all “2002” run group both race weekends at the PVGP.

The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, in its 35th year, is a ten-day motorsport festival with the purpose to raise awareness and funds for the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and the Allegheny Valley School. Every year the PVGP selects a Marque and this year is ours again. The Allegheny Chapter of the BMW CCA has been a ground breaker in fund raising for these worthwhile charities and have donated over $250,000. This year our goal is to donate over a $100,000 and we hope you will help.

Things get started Friday, July 5 and run through July 7 at the Pittsburgh International Motorsports Complex where the Allegheny Chapter will host a Vintage 2002 Race, a National Points BMW CCA Club Race and a car corral all as part of the PVGP Historics at Pitt-Race. All racers and a crew member will enjoy a welcome reception, lunches and dinners throughout the weekend. Spectators are encouraged and can reserve designated space in our corral. All can enjoy lunches in our tent while watching the races from Spectator Hill.

The following weekend, July 14 & 15 all 2002 Racers have an opportunity to be in the PVGP Vintage Grand Prix Races. The race is the only Vintage race in the country run on the City streets of Schenley Parks a 2.3-mile, 23 turn road course. Curbs, street lights, manhole covers and haybales, this is one of the most challenging race tracks you will ever have the chance to run. Additionally, what makes this event special, is that there are over 100,000 spectators cheering you on to the finish line. Drivers and crew receive lunch both days at the Allegheny Chapter Corral on German Hill.

Our Friday night, our “Forbes Avenue of Speed” Race Car Parade & Display in nearby Squirrel Hill is a great opportunity to meet the racers and see the cars up close. Vintage racers will parade through Squirrel Hill and park on Forbes Avenue for a car show.

Racers leave the paddock in parade formation from the starting grid at 6:15, right after the driver’s meeting ends at 6:00. We encourage them to make the trip in their race cars and park along Forbes Avenue in Squirrel Hill. You can drive up in your support vehicle too, but we ask that you not park with the race cars.. The event runs from 6:30 until 8:30 PM.

As part of this event the PVGP is holding a free private reception inside Orr’s Jewelers on Forbes Avenue for our racers and their crew. Appetizers, finger foods, sandwiches and desserts will be provided along with soft drinks, wine and Hofbräuhaus Beir from 6:30 until 8:30. Reception is open to all racers and their registered crew. Attendees must have official wristband from PVGP race registration to gain entry.  It is just a small way the PVGP can thank the racers for making our event possible.
