SUMMARY:Tire Rack Teen Street Survival
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, September 19th\, 9:00AM-4:30PM \nThe primary emphasis of the Tire Rack Street Survival® is a “hands-on” driving experience in real-world situations! We use your own car to teach you about its handling limits and how you can control them. The students will become more observant of the traffic situation they find themselves in. They will learn to look far enough ahead to anticipate unwise actions of other drivers. As the students master the application of physics to drive their cars\, they will make fewer unwise driving actions themselves. They will understand why they should always wear their own seatbelts\, and why they should insist that their passengers wear seatbelts\, too. \nThree parents\, including Scott Goodyear\, former Indy Car Champion\, share their perspectives in this video. \nIt’s about more than driving – it’s about LIVING! \nAll Schools $95. \nSee our FAQ page at: www.streetsurvival.org/frequently-asked-questions.php \nAny questions after reviewing the FAQ page call Bill Wade\, National Program Manager\, @ 864-438-2060 (8 am – 8 pm EST) \n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent requirements\n\nParents are encouraged to stay!  Please arrive early. \nVehicles with modifications that alter the center of gravity (i.e. lift kits) are not acceptable. \nHigh Center of Gravity Vehicles (HCGs) such as SUVs\, SAVs\, Trucks\, Jeep-type vehicles\, and Minivans will need to be verified.  The older HCGs without electronic stability control (not just the electronic traction control) will not be accepted. \nHCG vehicles may still be limited with respect to the exercises in which they are allowed to participate based on local venue conditions. \nPlease look up the HCG vehicle safety score. You can research the safety ratings that a vehicle has received at www.edmunds.com  Input the vehicle and year and look at the safety rating in the upper right corner of the web page. \nThis review is for HCG vehicles only. Passenger cars do not need to be reviewed. \nAny vehicle with a listing of 3 stars or more out of 5 in the Roll Over test will be allowed to participate in our class. We are concerned about the Roll Over test on the HCG only. We are not concerned about the crash test ratings. \nAny HCG vehicle listed as “not tested” in the Roll Over test will not be allowed to participate. \nALL COMMUNICATION REGARDING THE SCHOOL WILL BE SENT TO THE E-MAIL ADDRESS ON THE REGISTRATION LISTED AS THE STUDENTS.

SUMMARY:Tire Rack Teen Street Survival
DESCRIPTION:Through the volunteer efforts of members of the BMW Car Club of America and Canada\, the SCCA\, and the Porsche Club of America as well as other automotive enthusiasts who serve as personal coaches for each student\, the Tire Rack Street Survival program has graduated students from more than 1\,000 classes. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nIt’s about more than DRIVING. It’s about LIVING! \nThe school’s aim is to reduce deadly car crashes involving teenagers by providing them a controlled setting where they can gain invaluable experience in car control\, all with a knowledgeable coach always at their side helping them to understand how important experience is over guessing when the unexpected happens on the road. Thousands of volunteers gladly give of their time and talents to help our most valuable resource\, young people\, gain experience that will allow them to make educated decisions when driving\, rather than guessing what to do and whether they\, their passenger or others sharing the road with them\, will live or die. \nScott Goodyear\, veteran IndyCar driver and expert race analyst\, has partnered with the Tire Rack Street Survival program after seeing how his own children have benefitted from what they’ve learned in this class. Goodyear has shared his expertise and knowledge as a professional driver with teen drivers at select Tire Rack Street Survival programs across the country. Read more. Also watch “Street Survival: From Parents’ Perspective”. \n\nPrimary emphasis of the school is a “hands-on” driving experience in real-world situations.\nDriving is done in the student’s own car to teach him/her about its handling limits and how to control them.\nQualified coaches are in the car with the student throughout the entire day.\nThe course is wet down (in part) to allow the student to experience “mistakes” at a very slow speed. In this class\, mistakes are learning experiences.\nChallenging driving courses are created in a controlled area to allow the student to experience abnormal car behavior and then teach him/her how to handle the new situation.\nThis is not a course for learning how to drive at high speeds. Safety and car control are the objectives.\n\n*The driver must be a minimum of 15 years old (regardless of the minimum age for the state issuing the permit) and have had a permit for a minimum of ½ the time required by the state holding jurisdiction over that permit\, (not the state that the school is located in) i.e. if the permit must be held for 6 months before the driver can take their driving test\, then the student must have had the permit a minimum of 3 months. \nFor detailed information\, school calendar/locations\, rules and example course visit www.streetsurvival.org

SUMMARY:Kilkeary's Auto Body - Tech Session
DESCRIPTION:On August 21st\, Tim Kilkeary\, the owner of Kilkearys Auto Body and Custom Shop has invited our club to visit his facility located in North Strabane. \nKilkearys is the only certified body repair shop for BMWs\, Mercedes\, Porsche\, and Volvo in the Pittsburgh area.  (They also do mechanical work.) \nHowever\, the body shop is only one facet of this enterprise. They also design and manufacture custom cars and restomods in a separate section of his building. He has a dedicated crew that does nothing but work on these vehicles. Some of these cars have a budget of over $1 million dollars! \nMore information on this business can be found on the Washington Observer Reporter web site. \nThe event will take place from 10 AM – 12 PM.  Because of limited parking space\, there can only be a limit of 40 people present.  \nFor those interested in lunch after the tour\, a space is being provided at Juniper Grill located in Peters Township which is about two miles away on Route 19. Lunch is on your own. \nPlease RSVP to bmw.event.coordinator@gmail.com

SUMMARY:2021 PVGP - Race Weekend at Schenley Park
DESCRIPTION:Car Show Registration Coming Soon!\n\nThe races start at 8:30 am each day and run until approximately 5:00 pm. See Race Schedule. Spectators are free to enter at any time. Car Show participants can enter the show grounds beginning at 9:30 am. \nThe PVGP races through Schenley Park are considered by many drivers to be the most challenging race course worldwide. With 22 turns\, 11 elevation changes\, approximately 100 telephone poles\, an expanse of stone wall and numerous manhole covers\, it’s no wonder the 2.33-mile circuit tests driving skills and entertains crowds. \nThe best place to watch the races is from the 456 acre Bob O’Connor Golf Course where the Grand Prix stages its International Car Show. These car shows are mainly supported by local car clubs but are also open to the public for $50 for the weekend. There are dozens of sponsor tents\, a Vendors Village along with food and refreshments. There is no cost for spectators to enter\, but we do encourage donations. All proceeds benefit our charity partners. \n\n

Following lunch\, we will travel west to Clark\, Pa and the home of Tara Country Inn for a rest stop. Those choosing to stay overnight will check into the Inn\, while those opting for the day trip will continue on the southbound route back towards home. \nThe drive will leave at 9:00 am from the Warrendale Village in Warrendale (908 Warrendale Village Dr\, Warrendale\, PA 15086). Participants are encouraged to arrive by 8:30 am\, fueled up and ready to go. Groups will head northward towards Saxonburg\, followed by East Brady\, Emlenton and finally Oil Creek State Park. The Oil Creek Valley is the site of the world’s first commercial oil well. Scenic Oil Creek carves a valley of deep hollows\, steep hillsides\, and wetlands. We will enjoy an optional picnic lunch along the banks of the Oil Creek. \nThe afternoon has us traveling west into farm country as we traverse the numerous farms to our rest stop and optional overnight location\, the Tara Country Inn. This elegant Greek Revival-style mansion\, built in 1854\, serves as the perfect country inn for a getaway. The award-winning Inn holds a rich history as well as several awards for excellence in serving travelers with authentic Southern charm and luxury. \nAfterwards we will travel into Amish country where we will enjoy the numerous Amish homesteads and the Banks Covered Bridge. The Bridge is a wooden covered bridge in Wilmington Township\, Lawrence County. It spans the Neshannock Creek southeast of New Wilmington. Constructed in 1889\, the bridge is a Burr arch truss built on stone foundations and supported by steel girders; it is 121 feet long. Continuing southbound through the remote bi-ways we will end the trip in Zeilinople where everyone can jump onto I-79 for the dash home. \nIf you are interested in the optional overnight at the Tara Country Inn you can check out the hotel at the following link https://tara-inn.com/about-tara-a-country-inn/. If you are interested in joining the overnight group please call and request Bill or Jennifer to make your reservations. We have arranged for a social hour in one of the many common areas of the Inn with a cash bar. Afterward\, we have made dinner arrangements. Breakfast is included with the room rate of $250. \nThe trip is around 230 miles. We will make a rest stop in the morning and afternoon. Lunches can be provided for $10 per person or bring your own picnic. Everyone will be responsible for their own beverages. Registration is here. Hope to see you soon.

SUMMARY:2020 Last Drive of the Year
DESCRIPTION:To mark the end of a very difficult club-sponsored driving season this year\, we will have our final fling on Saturday\, November 7th.  Here’s one last chance to enjoy your Bimmer with the club before the year ends. \nI hope we get one of those mid-autumn warm\, sunny afternoons.  But regardless of the weather\, we drive. \nWe will depart from the Sheetz on Rt-51 in Belle Vernon at noon sharp.  You can grab lunch there or anywhere in the area beforehand. \nWe have some nice twisty-turny roads to get us down to Ohiopyle\, passing through Ohiopyle State Park.  We then have an interesting route back North. \nThere are two bio-break stops planned along the way. \nThe drive ends just before 5:00 at Pugliano’s on Golden Mile Highway in Plum.  You may choose to have dinner there\, or at one of the many restaurants nearby (the Golden Goblin is recommended and is less than half a mile away).  Or you can call it a day and head home. \nThis is a day you’ll remember when the snow is blowing. \n\nWritten Directions\n\nDOWNLOAD\n\n\nGPX File (for Garmin and TomTom GPS units)\n\nGPX DOWNLOAD\nPTM DOWNLOAN

SUMMARY:BMW CCA HPDE and Time Trials at Pitt Race - CANCELED
DESCRIPTION:Two BMWCCA Chapters Join Forces to Offer the Experience of a Lifetime!\n\n\n\nTrillium and Allegheny Chapters of BMW CCA will be hosting a High-Performance Driving School (HPDE) and BMW CCA Club Racing Time Trials at Pittsburgh International Race Complex (PIRC) on September 14 – 16\, 2020. This is a “weekday” event. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \n\n\n\nAllegheny and Trillium Chapter will host a High Performance Drivers Education (HPDE) School at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex on Sept 14-16. The school will cater to all experience levels: novice\, intermediate\, advanced and solo students. All participants will receive expert\, personalized\, one-on-one instruction sessions both in-car on-track and in the classroom. \n\n\n\nPIRC has been significantly upgraded its track and facilities over the last 5 years and is now a “world- class” track. It offers sections which are very technical\, and also has several high-speed sections. BMW CCA Allegheny Chapter has supported the BMW CCA Club Race there for over 20 years\, and now it’s time to share this great track with our DE students and instructors too! This track will help you round out your skills\, while you have lots of fun with your Allegheny and Trillium Chapter hosts. \nMonday Sept 14th will be open to Pre-Approved Solo\, Instructors and advanced “A” group students (with prior approval). \nTuesday and Wednesday Sept 15th and 16th are open to all levels. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAlso\, on Tuesday and Wednesday\, one run group will be for the Time Trials participants. For more information on BMW CCA Time Trials\, please see the bottom of this message. \nIf you have questions or require pre-approval to run on Monday\, please contact \nregistrar@trilliumbmwclub.ca \nOn Monday evening there will be a Welcome reception\, and on Tuesday evening there will be a banquet or tailgate BBQ. Cost for DE participants is included; there will be a $20 cost for guests. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \n\n\n\nPricing: \n\nTuesday/Wednesday student pricing: $520 USD\, increases after June 1st.\nMonday/Tuesday/Wednesday student pricing: $670 USD\, increases after June 1st.\nTime Trials are just $75 more than the student rate.\nInstructors for 2 days or all 3 days: $100.\n\nWe are working on a block of hotel rooms at reduced pricing. Once we have an agreement in place\, we will update those who have registered. \n\n\n\nWatch a smooth lap of this fantastic track from one of our members. \n\n\n\n \nAbout Time Trials Events \n\n\n\nBMW CCA Club Racing Time Trials (BMW-TT) events offer drivers a competitive step up from a driving school event\, instructing\, and Auto-X\, but falls short of all out club racing. A driver can use the same car and tech preparation used during the driving school (HPDE). Extra safety equipment is always encouraged\, but not required. \nBMW-TT is open to Pre-Approved-Solo and “A” group students (with approval) and to all driving schoolinstructors. Drivers can also participate from other organizations such as SCCA\, NASA and PCA if they have the required driving skill. Each driver will be screened before being accepted into the run group for the necessary solo driving skills. \nThe art of a successful run at time trials is to find a spot on the track where you are not impeded by other traffic\, and then to run your smoothest lap. Each participant tests their skills against the track\, and by so doing\, each time trial participant is compared to their fellow participants by using a transponder on each car. It is you against the clock. Typically\, drivers get 4 sessions per day. Time Trial cars are gridded by time in the previous session and are assigned a specific grid position. It’s all about your single fastest lap in a session. Typically\, there will be three basic car classifications at BMW-TT events: M car\, Non-M car and Non-BMW. \nThe event might have a sub classification of Street tires vs R-Compound tires. The goal is to keep classes to a very basic set\, and encourage fun rather than too much competition. Note: BMW chassis cars with non-BMW motor will be placed in a Non-BMW class. AMB/ MyLaps TranX260 or X2 transponders are required to run in a BMW-TT event. Transponder rentals should be available if the driver does not own one. \nWe hope to see you there! \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER

SUMMARY:The Great Escape Tour
DESCRIPTION:Global pandemic.  Stay-at-home orders.  Lock-downs.  Red phase.  Yellow phase.  Are you ready for a FUN phase?  \n  \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nThen come join your BMW CCA chapter for a social distance-friendly drive (a.k.a. The Great Escape) on Saturday\, June 20th.  Bring your face mask and your BMW as we drive from Warrendale to Moraine State Park via the scenic and twisty Franklin Rd/SR 528.  Trip mileage is 64 miles and should take 2.5 hours. \nThe departure location will be the parking lot at Generoasta Coffee in Warrendale.  The address is 901 Warrendale Village Dr\, Warrendale\, PA 15086.  Driver’s meeting is at 9:45 AM and we will get on the road promptly at 10:00 AM. Due to the PA DOH and CDC recommendations on social distancing we will be doing things a little different on this drive.  First\, we will be sending out waivers and directions electronically.  Second\, we will be meeting in separate sections of the parking lot.  Third\, we will not be stopping at a restaurant when the drive is over.  Instead\, we will be ending the drive at Moraine State Park and folks are free to picnic on their own.  The chapter will be reserving a pavilion for picnicking. \nAs a reminder\, we rate the drives in order to better inform members of the type of driving they can expect: \n\nLeisure – A nice drive where you will be able to enjoy the countryside – combination of below speed limit and at speed limit\nSporty – A speedier ride so you can enjoy those curves – at speed limit\nSpirited – Your BMW will be moving through a lot of curves with spirited driving\n\nThis drive is rated – Spirited. But don’t worry if that is not your cup of tea. The goal is to assign drive groups based on personal preferences of driving style. \nThe event is FREE to all attendees but registration is mandatory.   \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nAlso\, if you have a two-way radio please bring it.  If you do not have one\, please consider purchasing one such as the easy-to-use Motorola Talkabout T260 or Talkabout T460.  If you are looking for a more advanced model\, consider the BaoFeng UV-82HP (NOTE – You will need a FCC GMRS license to use the BaoFeng radio.  There is no test\, you just pay the $70 fee and the license is good for 10 years). \nA GPX file and written directions will be provided before the drive.  If you have any questions\, please contact Steve Forest at sforest74@gmail.com \n
