SUMMARY:Tire Rack Teen Street Survival
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, September 19th\, 9:00AM-4:30PM \nThe primary emphasis of the Tire Rack Street Survival® is a “hands-on” driving experience in real-world situations! We use your own car to teach you about its handling limits and how you can control them. The students will become more observant of the traffic situation they find themselves in. They will learn to look far enough ahead to anticipate unwise actions of other drivers. As the students master the application of physics to drive their cars\, they will make fewer unwise driving actions themselves. They will understand why they should always wear their own seatbelts\, and why they should insist that their passengers wear seatbelts\, too. \nThree parents\, including Scott Goodyear\, former Indy Car Champion\, share their perspectives in this video. \nIt’s about more than driving – it’s about LIVING! \nAll Schools $95. \nSee our FAQ page at: www.streetsurvival.org/frequently-asked-questions.php \nAny questions after reviewing the FAQ page call Bill Wade\, National Program Manager\, @ 864-438-2060 (8 am – 8 pm EST) \n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent requirements\n\nParents are encouraged to stay!  Please arrive early. \nVehicles with modifications that alter the center of gravity (i.e. lift kits) are not acceptable. \nHigh Center of Gravity Vehicles (HCGs) such as SUVs\, SAVs\, Trucks\, Jeep-type vehicles\, and Minivans will need to be verified.  The older HCGs without electronic stability control (not just the electronic traction control) will not be accepted. \nHCG vehicles may still be limited with respect to the exercises in which they are allowed to participate based on local venue conditions. \nPlease look up the HCG vehicle safety score. You can research the safety ratings that a vehicle has received at www.edmunds.com  Input the vehicle and year and look at the safety rating in the upper right corner of the web page. \nThis review is for HCG vehicles only. Passenger cars do not need to be reviewed. \nAny vehicle with a listing of 3 stars or more out of 5 in the Roll Over test will be allowed to participate in our class. We are concerned about the Roll Over test on the HCG only. We are not concerned about the crash test ratings. \nAny HCG vehicle listed as “not tested” in the Roll Over test will not be allowed to participate. \nALL COMMUNICATION REGARDING THE SCHOOL WILL BE SENT TO THE E-MAIL ADDRESS ON THE REGISTRATION LISTED AS THE STUDENTS.

SUMMARY:Tire Rack Teen Street Survival
DESCRIPTION:Through the volunteer efforts of members of the BMW Car Club of America and Canada\, the SCCA\, and the Porsche Club of America as well as other automotive enthusiasts who serve as personal coaches for each student\, the Tire Rack Street Survival program has graduated students from more than 1\,000 classes. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nIt’s about more than DRIVING. It’s about LIVING! \nThe school’s aim is to reduce deadly car crashes involving teenagers by providing them a controlled setting where they can gain invaluable experience in car control\, all with a knowledgeable coach always at their side helping them to understand how important experience is over guessing when the unexpected happens on the road. Thousands of volunteers gladly give of their time and talents to help our most valuable resource\, young people\, gain experience that will allow them to make educated decisions when driving\, rather than guessing what to do and whether they\, their passenger or others sharing the road with them\, will live or die. \nScott Goodyear\, veteran IndyCar driver and expert race analyst\, has partnered with the Tire Rack Street Survival program after seeing how his own children have benefitted from what they’ve learned in this class. Goodyear has shared his expertise and knowledge as a professional driver with teen drivers at select Tire Rack Street Survival programs across the country. Read more. Also watch “Street Survival: From Parents’ Perspective”. \n\nPrimary emphasis of the school is a “hands-on” driving experience in real-world situations.\nDriving is done in the student’s own car to teach him/her about its handling limits and how to control them.\nQualified coaches are in the car with the student throughout the entire day.\nThe course is wet down (in part) to allow the student to experience “mistakes” at a very slow speed. In this class\, mistakes are learning experiences.\nChallenging driving courses are created in a controlled area to allow the student to experience abnormal car behavior and then teach him/her how to handle the new situation.\nThis is not a course for learning how to drive at high speeds. Safety and car control are the objectives.\n\n*The driver must be a minimum of 15 years old (regardless of the minimum age for the state issuing the permit) and have had a permit for a minimum of ½ the time required by the state holding jurisdiction over that permit\, (not the state that the school is located in) i.e. if the permit must be held for 6 months before the driver can take their driving test\, then the student must have had the permit a minimum of 3 months. \nFor detailed information\, school calendar/locations\, rules and example course visit www.streetsurvival.org

SUMMARY:Kilkeary's Auto Body - Tech Session
DESCRIPTION:On August 21st\, Tim Kilkeary\, the owner of Kilkearys Auto Body and Custom Shop has invited our club to visit his facility located in North Strabane. \nKilkearys is the only certified body repair shop for BMWs\, Mercedes\, Porsche\, and Volvo in the Pittsburgh area.  (They also do mechanical work.) \nHowever\, the body shop is only one facet of this enterprise. They also design and manufacture custom cars and restomods in a separate section of his building. He has a dedicated crew that does nothing but work on these vehicles. Some of these cars have a budget of over $1 million dollars! \nMore information on this business can be found on the Washington Observer Reporter web site. \nThe event will take place from 10 AM – 12 PM.  Because of limited parking space\, there can only be a limit of 40 people present.  \nFor those interested in lunch after the tour\, a space is being provided at Juniper Grill located in Peters Township which is about two miles away on Route 19. Lunch is on your own. \nPlease RSVP to bmw.event.coordinator@gmail.com

SUMMARY:2021 PVGP - Race Weekend at Schenley Park
DESCRIPTION:Car Show Registration Coming Soon!\n\nThe races start at 8:30 am each day and run until approximately 5:00 pm. See Race Schedule. Spectators are free to enter at any time. Car Show participants can enter the show grounds beginning at 9:30 am. \nThe PVGP races through Schenley Park are considered by many drivers to be the most challenging race course worldwide. With 22 turns\, 11 elevation changes\, approximately 100 telephone poles\, an expanse of stone wall and numerous manhole covers\, it’s no wonder the 2.33-mile circuit tests driving skills and entertains crowds. \nThe best place to watch the races is from the 456 acre Bob O’Connor Golf Course where the Grand Prix stages its International Car Show. These car shows are mainly supported by local car clubs but are also open to the public for $50 for the weekend. There are dozens of sponsor tents\, a Vendors Village along with food and refreshments. There is no cost for spectators to enter\, but we do encourage donations. All proceeds benefit our charity partners. \n\n

Participants are encouraged to arrive by 8:30 am\, fueled up and ready to go. Groups will head northward towards Saxonburg\, followed by East Brady\, Emlenton and finally Oil Creek State Park. We will enjoy an optional picnic lunch along the banks of the Oil Creek. \nThe afternoon has us traveling west into farm country as we traverse the numerous farms to our rest stop and optional overnight location\, the Tara Country Inn. The award-winning Inn holds a rich history as well as several awards for excellence in serving travelers with authentic Southern charm and luxury. \nAfterwards we will travel into Amish country where we will enjoy the numerous Amish homesteads and the Banks Covered Bridge. The Bridge is a wooden covered bridge in Wilmington Township\, Lawrence County. It spans the Neshannock Creek southeast of New Wilmington. Constructed in 1889\, the bridge is a Burr arch truss built on stone foundations and supported by steel girders; it is 121 feet long. Continuing southbound through the remote bi-ways we will end the trip in Zeilinople where everyone can jump onto I-79 for the dash home. \nIf you are interested in the optional overnight at the Tara Country Inn you can check out the hotel at the following link https://tara-inn.com/about-tara-a-country-inn/. If you are interested in joining the overnight group please call and request Bill or Jennifer to make your reservations. We have arranged for a social hour in one of the many common areas of the Inn with a cash bar. Afterward\, we have made dinner arrangements. Breakfast is included with the room rate of $250. \nThe trip is around 230 miles. We will make a rest stop in the morning and afternoon. SUMMARY:2020 Last Drive of the Year
DESCRIPTION:To mark the end of a very difficult club-sponsored driving season this year\, we will have our final fling on Saturday\, November 7th.  Here’s one last chance to enjoy your Bimmer with the club before the year ends. \nI hope we get one of those mid-autumn warm\, sunny afternoons.  But regardless of the weather\, we drive. \nWe will depart from the Sheetz on Rt-51 in Belle Vernon at noon sharp.  You can grab lunch there or anywhere in the area beforehand. \nWe have some nice twisty-turny roads to get us down to Ohiopyle\, passing through Ohiopyle State Park.  We then have an interesting route back North. \nThere are two bio-break stops planned along the way. \nThe drive ends just before 5:00 at Pugliano’s on Golden Mile Highway in Plum.  You may choose to have dinner there\, or at one of the many restaurants nearby (the Golden Goblin is recommended and is less than half a mile away).  Or you can call it a day and head home. \nThis is a day you’ll remember when the snow is blowing. \n\nWritten Directions\n\nDOWNLOAD\n\n\nGPX File (for Garmin and TomTom GPS units)\n\nGPX DOWNLOAD\nPTM DOWNLOAN

SUMMARY:2020 Deutsche Marque Okoberfest - CANCELED

Additional cars will be on lower levels. Everyone will have the opportunity to stroll amongst the cars with the City of Pittsburgh as the backdrop.  Guests can then enjoy walking to our patio reception outside the doors to the Eisenhall where we enjoy a Cash bar and buffet lunch of German sausages\, sides\, deserts\, as well as appetizers\, chips and pretzels. \nParticipants will receive entry to the Shine and Show\, lunch\, a commemorative t-shirt\, and a drink ticket for beer or wine. Additionally\, all car participants will be registered for a People’s Choice Award to be awarded to all Marques. Registration to open June 1. 2020 on motorsportreg.com. More information to come. \n \nAs part of our celebration the Penn Brewery is producing commemorative Oktoberfest 6-pak Deutsche Marque Beer. The Penn Brewery began brewing craft beer back in 1986\, making them one of the earliest pioneers in the American craft movement.  They started out brewing classic lagers and German beer styles\, adhering to the strict quality standards of the 16th-century Bavarian Reinheitsgebot purity laws.  Overtime they have expanded \ntheir offerings to include IPAs and other styles like chocolate and pumpkin beers. The Penn beers have won a total of twenty Great American Beer Festival® and World Beer Cup® medals. \n  \nPlease join us in restoring a new traditional gathering of good people\, great beer and the artistic manufacturing excellence of the German Marques.
