SUMMARY:Tire Rack Teen Street Survival
DESCRIPTION:Through the volunteer efforts of members of the BMW Car Club of America and Canada\, the SCCA\, and the Porsche Club of America as well as other automotive enthusiasts who serve as personal coaches for each student\, the Tire Rack Street Survival program has graduated students from more than 1\,000 classes. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nIt’s about more than DRIVING. It’s about LIVING! \nThe school’s aim is to reduce deadly car crashes involving teenagers by providing them a controlled setting where they can gain invaluable experience in car control\, all with a knowledgeable coach always at their side helping them to understand how important experience is over guessing when the unexpected happens on the road. Thousands of volunteers gladly give of their time and talents to help our most valuable resource\, young people\, gain experience that will allow them to make educated decisions when driving\, rather than guessing what to do and whether they\, their passenger or others sharing the road with them\, will live or die. \nScott Goodyear\, veteran IndyCar driver and expert race analyst\, has partnered with the Tire Rack Street Survival program after seeing how his own children have benefitted from what they’ve learned in this class. Goodyear has shared his expertise and knowledge as a professional driver with teen drivers at select Tire Rack Street Survival programs across the country. Read more. Also watch “Street Survival: From Parents’ Perspective”. \n\nPrimary emphasis of the school is a “hands-on” driving experience in real-world situations.\nDriving is done in the student’s own car to teach him/her about its handling limits and how to control them.\nQualified coaches are in the car with the student throughout the entire day.\nThe course is wet down (in part) to allow the student to experience “mistakes” at a very slow speed. In this class\, mistakes are learning experiences.\nChallenging driving courses are created in a controlled area to allow the student to experience abnormal car behavior and then teach him/her how to handle the new situation.\nThis is not a course for learning how to drive at high speeds. Safety and car control are the objectives.\n\n*The driver must be a minimum of 15 years old (regardless of the minimum age for the state issuing the permit) and have had a permit for a minimum of ½ the time required by the state holding jurisdiction over that permit\, (not the state that the school is located in) i.e. if the permit must be held for 6 months before the driver can take their driving test\, then the student must have had the permit a minimum of 3 months. \nFor detailed information\, school calendar/locations\, rules and example course visit www.streetsurvival.org

SUMMARY:Tire Rack Teen Street Survival
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, September 19th\, 9:00AM-4:30PM \nThe primary emphasis of the Tire Rack Street Survival® is a “hands-on” driving experience in real-world situations! We use your own car to teach you about its handling limits and how you can control them. The students will become more observant of the traffic situation they find themselves in. They will learn to look far enough ahead to anticipate unwise actions of other drivers. As the students master the application of physics to drive their cars\, they will make fewer unwise driving actions themselves. They will understand why they should always wear their own seatbelts\, and why they should insist that their passengers wear seatbelts\, too. \nThree parents\, including Scott Goodyear\, former Indy Car Champion\, share their perspectives in this video. \nIt’s about more than driving – it’s about LIVING! \nAll Schools $95. \nSee our FAQ page at: www.streetsurvival.org/frequently-asked-questions.php \nAny questions after reviewing the FAQ page call Bill Wade\, National Program Manager\, @ 864-438-2060 (8 am – 8 pm EST) \n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent requirements\n\nParents are encouraged to stay!  Please arrive early. \nVehicles with modifications that alter the center of gravity (i.e. lift kits) are not acceptable. \nHigh Center of Gravity Vehicles (HCGs) such as SUVs\, SAVs\, Trucks\, Jeep-type vehicles\, and Minivans will need to be verified.  The older HCGs without electronic stability control (not just the electronic traction control) will not be accepted. \nHCG vehicles may still be limited with respect to the exercises in which they are allowed to participate based on local venue conditions. \nPlease look up the HCG vehicle safety score. You can research the safety ratings that a vehicle has received at www.edmunds.com  Input the vehicle and year and look at the safety rating in the upper right corner of the web page. \nThis review is for HCG vehicles only. Passenger cars do not need to be reviewed. \nAny vehicle with a listing of 3 stars or more out of 5 in the Roll Over test will be allowed to participate in our class. We are concerned about the Roll Over test on the HCG only. We are not concerned about the crash test ratings. \nAny HCG vehicle listed as “not tested” in the Roll Over test will not be allowed to participate. \nALL COMMUNICATION REGARDING THE SCHOOL WILL BE SENT TO THE E-MAIL ADDRESS ON THE REGISTRATION LISTED AS THE STUDENTS.

SUMMARY:BMW CCA HPDE and Time Trials at Pitt Race - CANCELED

This is a “weekday” event. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \n\n\n\nAllegheny and Trillium Chapter will host a High Performance Drivers Education (HPDE) School at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex on Sept 14-16. The school will cater to all experience levels: novice\, intermediate\, advanced and solo students. All participants will receive expert\, personalized\, one-on-one instruction sessions both in-car on-track and in the classroom. \n\n\n\nPIRC has been significantly upgraded its track and facilities over the last 5 years and is now a “world- class” track. It offers sections which are very technical\, and also has several high-speed sections. BMW CCA Allegheny Chapter has supported the BMW CCA Club Race there for over 20 years\, and now it’s time to share this great track with our DE students and instructors too! This track will help you round out your skills\, while you have lots of fun with your Allegheny and Trillium Chapter hosts. \nMonday Sept 14th will be open to Pre-Approved Solo\, Instructors and advanced “A” group students (with prior approval). \nTuesday and Wednesday Sept 15th and 16th are open to all levels. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nAlso\, on Tuesday and Wednesday\, one run group will be for the Time Trials participants. For more information on BMW CCA Time Trials\, please see the bottom of this message. \nIf you have questions or require pre-approval to run on Monday\, please contact \nregistrar@trilliumbmwclub.ca \nOn Monday evening there will be a Welcome reception\, and on Tuesday evening there will be a banquet or tailgate BBQ. Cost for DE participants is included; there will be a $20 cost for guests. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \n\n\n\nPricing: \n\nTuesday/Wednesday student pricing: $520 USD\, increases after June 1st.\nMonday/Tuesday/Wednesday student pricing: $670 USD\, increases after June 1st.\nTime Trials are just $75 more than the student rate.\nInstructors for 2 days or all 3 days: $100.\n\nWe are working on a block of hotel rooms at reduced pricing. Once we have an agreement in place\, we will update those who have registered. \n\n\n\nWatch a smooth lap of this fantastic track from one of our members. \n\n\n\n \nAbout Time Trials Events \n\n\n\nBMW CCA Club Racing Time Trials (BMW-TT) events offer drivers a competitive step up from a driving school event\, instructing\, and Auto-X\, but falls short of all out club racing. A driver can use the same car and tech preparation used during the driving school (HPDE). Extra safety equipment is always encouraged\, but not required. \nBMW-TT is open to Pre-Approved-Solo and “A” group students (with approval) and to all driving schoolinstructors. Drivers can also participate from other organizations such as SCCA\, NASA and PCA if they have the required driving skill. Each driver will be screened before being accepted into the run group for the necessary solo driving skills. \nThe art of a successful run at time trials is to find a spot on the track where you are not impeded by other traffic\, and then to run your smoothest lap. Each participant tests their skills against the track\, and by so doing\, each time trial participant is compared to their fellow participants by using a transponder on each car. It is you against the clock. Typically\, drivers get 4 sessions per day. Time Trial cars are gridded by time in the previous session and are assigned a specific grid position. It’s all about your single fastest lap in a session. Typically\, there will be three basic car classifications at BMW-TT events: M car\, Non-M car and Non-BMW. \nThe event might have a sub classification of Street tires vs R-Compound tires. The goal is to keep classes to a very basic set\, and encourage fun rather than too much competition. Note: BMW chassis cars with non-BMW motor will be placed in a Non-BMW class. AMB/ MyLaps TranX260 or X2 transponders are required to run in a BMW-TT event. Transponder rentals should be available if the driver does not own one. \nWe hope to see you there! \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER
